Baton Rouge Design Firm Engages with Design Community and Clients Alike

Baton Rouge, LA – Gatorworks, a Baton Rouge design and web firm, has recently launched their new website at gatorworks.net. The website is the final piece for an entirely new branding strategy that includes a new logo, business cards, letterhead, and various printed media. The new website features a blog system that integrates several social media applications such as Twitter, Flickr, and Last.fm.

“The new website will allow our team of graphic designers and developers the opportunity to contribute blog entries that relate to current design trends, usability critiques, and case studies of both our projects and the projects of other industry peers. I feel the new website will be a great tool for others in the industry as well as better represent our company as a progressive young design firm,” says Gatorworks President/CEO Brian Rodriguez.

The new website will of course have all the features you would expect from a design company, such as their portfolio, general company information, and a way for prospective employees to apply online. However, the site is updated a few times a week with blog entries and other fun features such as a list of the latest music that was played from each of the Gatorworks’ employees computers at their Baton Rouge office.

Additionally, the website features various projects that the firm has completed outside of the web. “Our company’s capabilities extend beyond just web design,” said Rodriguez. “We have completed a wide variety of graphic design projects such as logo design, print ad design, and design for trade show displays. We hope to communicate our versatility through our new website.”

Gatorworks has been based in Baton Rouge since 2004. They have designed and currently manage over 150 websites for small to mid-sized companies across the United States. Feel free to visit www.gatorworks.net to learn more about the firm, or call Brian Rodriguez directly at 225-709-6153.

The Best Way to Advertise Online

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Gatorworks is proud to announce its partnership with online advertising firm ReachLocal. ReachLocal is the largest search advertising firm in the nation for local and regional businesses. Its focus is local and their goal is to help you make more dollars and sense out of the local Internet.

Mastering the local internet is vital to attracting new customers. Americans search online over 3 billion times a month for local products and services. A reported 54% of America’s internet users now use search sites like Google instead of the print yellow pages to find local businesses. Gatorworks President/CEO, Brian Rodriguez is very excited about the partnership as it will provide a great service to supplement what Gatorworks is already doing for its web clients.  Rodriguez stated, “Our firm is priveleged to be doing business with ReachLocal as they are such a great company that really takes online advertising to the next level.”

ReachLocal specializes in local search, making it a more effective and efficient way for your company to obtain new customers.  They take the guesswork out of your advertising dollars by allowing you to see exactly where your money is spent and the business generated from your spend.  Gatorworks collaboratlively works with ReachLocal to track all the results (searches/impressions, clicks, phone calls via recording and caller I.D., emails, form submissions, etc) and make them available to you 24 hours a day. The technology and service is unmatched in the local search industry and their goal is to exceed your expectations as a business partner by adding tangible value to and increasing revenue for your business.

Gatorworks and ReachLocal connects parties who are searching online for your specific product or service through the use of the industry standard “pay-per-click” online search. They provide a competitive advantage and dominant internet presence at the precise moment prospective customers are actively looking for their clients products and services.  Most importantly, Gatorworks and ReachLocal have the unique ability to drive the activities most likely to convert these online searchers into offline customers.

There are two main differences between the online advertising services offered by Gatorworks and that of industry giants such as Google’s Adwords service.

1.  Syndicate Online Ads Throughout All the Major Search Engines

First, the Gatorworks online advertising service does not just put your pay-per-click ads on Google. Instead the ads are syndicated across all the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, AOL, MSN, and Superpages (just to name a few). When you sign up for an account at Google Adwords, your advertisement is displayed solely on Google. The Gatorworks service includes Google; however, for the same budget price the client’s ads are displayed on all the major search engines as well. Then, the client can login to one central control panel rather than having to login to several control panels to view reports from each respective search engine.

2.  Track and Record Phone Calls

Gatorworks and ReachLocal help their clients maximize their return on investment by not only allowing them to see reports that show impressions and unique visitors, but also phone calls! At any time, the client can login to their control panel and see the number of phone calls their business received, the caller I.D. of the business/individual, and an actual recording of the phone call. This tool can certainly help with ROI numbers as well as be used as a customer service/sales training tool.

BR Web Firm Selected to Work with World Congress on Information Technology

Wednesday, May 10th, 2006

GatorWorks, a Baton Rouge based web development firm, was recently selected to develop a web-based computer system for the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT). The system was used to manage the scheduling of volunteers for the WCIT’s 15th annual conference, held in Austin last week.  The system assisted the WCIT logistics team in scheduling over 200 volunteers to work specific shifts throughout the week.

WCIT 2006 is considered by many as the world’s premiere Information Technology forum. The biennial World Congress drew over 2,000 business, government, and academic leaders from 80 countries.  The delegates participated in the World Congress to ensure the positive impact of IT proliferation on the global community.

Lucas Daniels, Director of Creative & Logistics Planning for WCIT and President of Global CEC, travels all over the world managing meetings and conferences for corporations. His specialty is the high-level meeting that involves CXX level executives gathering with their peers over a specific program. Daniels said, “The system performed flawlessly enabling us to manage multiple schedules for a large group of volunteers whose valuable work was crucial to having WCIT run smoothly. GatorWorks created this important tool in record time and they were straight forward and easy to work with.”

Brian Rodriguez, GatorWorks president, had the opportunity to attend the conference where he mingled with tech giants such as Unisys, AMD, and Microsoft. “It was a tremendous opportunity for our small business to provide a voice in the global IT realm. I had the opportunity to meet several experienced information technology professionals.” Rodriguez mentioned that he met with companies from Malaysia and Mexico to discuss web development standards pertinent to his business.

The WCIT 2006 speaker roster boasted a stellar lineup of global leaders, including Steve Ballmer, CEO, Microsoft; John S. Chen, Chairman, CEO and president of Sybase, Inc.; Michael Dell, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dell Inc.; Paul Otellini, CEO of Intel; Gen. Colin Powell (ret.), former United States Secretary of State; and John W. Thompson, chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of Symantec Corporation. The next WCIT conference will be held in Malaysia in 2008, and will focus on a framework that includes political / social, technology, and economic themes. Rodriguez says that he plans to attend the conference and has already been in touch with a few of the companies involved with the conference so that he can provide his services once again to aid the development of global information technology.

Local Businesses Come Together to Aid Evacuees of Katrina

Monday, September 12th, 2005

Brian Rodriguez, founder of GatorWorks Web Design, oversaw the development of a first-class web site within days of Hurricane Katrina for the philanthropic Operation: Share Your Home. Rodriguez and his staff teamed up with LSU students, alumni, and local businesses to create the first new non-profit organization after the hurricane. The organization is designed to match displaced families with families who are willing to “share their home.”

The Operation: Share Your Home idea was developed by Billie Brown, mother of local business owner and LSU graduate Gary Brown, who was tired of waiting on the federal government to send aid to the Gulf coast. The Brown family decided to offer their home of ten beds, and the idea grew to a web site that received over 45,000 visits in the first three days of existence. Rodriguez and his GatorWorks Web Design crew worked around the clock during the aftermath of Katrina to provide a service that would attract over 1100 volunteers from across the country.

The organization has received over 20,000 requests from people world-wide willing to offer their homes to the evacuees located along the Gulf coast. Charlie Davis, President of the organization, said, “The outpouring of support has been overwhelming, and we are all proud to be able to offer a service we know truly helps those in need.” Davis mentioned that one individual donated over 200,000 of his frequent flyer miles to the organization to help in transporting evacuees to their temporary homes.

Operation: Share Your Home and GatorWorks Web Design are looking for interns who are interested in gaining experience in the information technology and/or mass communication areas. You can email GatorWorks directly at jobs@gatorworks.net, and be sure to indicate that you are interested in the GatorWorks internship. The organization is also looking for more volunteers to help in the effort to match evacuees with families. If you cannot volunteer, you can instead make donations through the web site at www.shareyourhome.org.
